This is my third NES homebrew game, and a sequel of sorts to my second. This is an expansion to the world of SENSELESS CITY, first introduced in the puzzle game I released last year. You can find the first SENSELESS CITY game here:
https://destroyed4com4t.itch.io/senseless-city

It's a visual novel, built around a widely expanded version of Nightendushi's VNES-ENGINE, which I converted to CNROM mapper from the original NROM to be able to add more characters as well as expanding the scripting language to accommodate music and background changes as well as an inventory system. If you wanna try your hand at Nightendushi's original engine, it is here:
https://github.com/NightenDushi/VNES_Engine

It's still very obviously a demo at this point. I expect the finished game to be a 96KB CNROM, which will make it the second one in existence after Bubble Bath Babes, lol. After this I will probably make a crunched down version of the engine with smaller characters and more detailed backgrounds for future games but I just really wanted to stick with the idea of giant characters in this one because they looked so good.

Whoa, this is awesome!  Can't wait to see where it goes.  Love the Shadowgate reference in there too ;)  Hope the new finders of this game remember to drink their kombucha ;)

Omg you have to submit this to RetroGamer magazine! I just saw they are specifically looking for Homebrew games to feature! address retrogamer(at)futurenet(dot)com

NES Visual Novels are magical and rare. This is super awesome to see.
You've made something truly special here. It's got me itching to make a NES VN now!

Thanks! There was a sort of Renaissance for them in the late 80s on Famicom and Famicom Disk System but they were mostly murder mysteries.

It's actually kind of weird more folks aren't making them now. I do plan on making a more graphically modular version of this engine that will produce graphics similar to The Portopia Serial Murders but I just really wanted huge splash graphics on this game.

I can't wait to see what else you make next. You've got my interests!
